SOAPBOX ARMY – Reactor

Little Pioneer Records (Release Date – out now)

Formed in New York in 2008, this is Soapbox Army’s second album, their self-titled debut having been released back in 2009. Alt rock is the band’s bag, think along the lines of Feeder and you get the idea.

Over the course of the ten tracks on offer the band put in a decent shift with some good songs that are well played. There is nothing though that grabs you by the scruff of the neck and gives you a shake, it is all very restrained and a bit bland. The closest you get is the track ‘Mountain’ which does attract your attention but only briefly.

Don’t get me wrong though, this is not a bad album, musically I couldn’t really fault it, it just lacks one key ingredient, excitement. Rock ‘n’ roll wallpaper anyone ??
