Carousels & Limousines have changed a bit since they released an enjoyable EP last year under the name Grace. They have changed drummer and their style, switching from Quo riffs and a Led Zeppelin stomp to the American heartland of Bruce Springsteen and the Gaslight Anthem.
The promo copy lacks any song titles although the Sterophonics meets Springsteen single ’17′s’ is a highlight. Also the closing acoustic song ‘Greasy Hands’ adds some depth to this album, although at only six songs perhaps EP is more accurate. The opening song is a catchy indie rocker whilst the other three songs on here recall Bruce Springsteen in the hoarse and impassioned vocals, along with the stirring musical backing. I could see this band doing well in the US if given some airplay and exposure.
Good, strong songs that have wide appeal but they may need to crack the notoriously difficult US market to find their best chance of success. Check out their website for a listen to two of their songs: http://www.carouselsandlimousines.com/listen/
