Dallas Frasca hails from Australia and this is her second album getting a UK release (it has been out since last May in her homeland). She also has a famous fan in Slash who has been playing this album on his recent US tour. Dallas handles vocals and guitar and is joined by Jeff Curran (guitar) and Samual Lukies (drums). Also worth noting is that they have gone for an authentic 60s’ production, so no frills or overdubs and it really adds to the overall sound.
First thing of note is Dallas’s voice, boy she can belt out a note or two. I was trying to find someone similar and I’d guess Beth Hart in her more blues rocking mode. ‘All My Love’ blasts the listener into submission and it is a great opening song. Interesting sound as well as they don’t have a bass player yet achieve a deep, dirty blues groove on many songs like ‘Better Without You’ and ‘Coming Home’. Dallas can also do gentler numbers like the wistful ‘I Only See You’.
Slash knows a good artist when he hears one and Dallas Frasca is worthy of your time. Classy, groove laden blues rock.
