Metal Mind Records (Release date – Out now)
At the moment there are a lot of bands that feel the need to be all things to all men, mixing genres to try and create a new and unique rock sound which can be interesting and groundbreaking or a disaster. However, every so often you crave a fix of good old straight forward metal with no pretentions, that’s where Hellectricity come in.
This is the Polish group’s first full length release following on from an EP which was released in2010. The band have taken the metal sounds of the early eighties and have added a modern twist to keep things fresh. There are some excellent songs on the album with fat, churning riffs, a heavy rhythm section and vocals provided by Rufus which reminded me of Blaze Bayley at times.
Classic metal tracks come fast and furious throughout the album with many highlights including ‘Don’t Burn The Witch’, the pummelling ‘Eat Me Alive’ and ‘Prophecy’ which finishes off the album with a bang.
There may be nothing new or original here but that is the beauty of Hellectricity they know what they are, a metal band that will have you banging your head and punching the air for all you’re worth. You can’t ask for more than that.
