PROMETHEE – Nothing Happens, Nobody Comes, Nobody Goes

Bad Moon Records (Release date – 21.01.13)

The Swiss are often held up as a rather boring nation of strict regulations and non-descript music. However metalcore crew Promethee are out to smash that image with this debut album which sticks two fingers up at the establishment with a furious onslaught which threatens to melt your Toblerone.

Having toured extensively throughout Europe over the last couple of years and released an EP which found critical acclaim, the band felt the time was ripe for this full length release. Metalcore is a crowded genre but the guys have managed to produce an original record which twists and turns and takes the listener on a rollercoaster ride which is not for the faint hearted.

There are many highlights over the 10 tracks on the disc with ‘Life-less’ and ‘Thus Spoke’, which contains vicious riffing and some neat prog touches, being the standouts. The twin guitar work of Ludovic Lecroix and Elric Doswald is intricate and blistering in equal measure as is the rhythm section of Matthieu Tappolett and Nils Haldi who handle the complex time changes with ease.

It is difficult to stand out in the overcrowded Metalcore pool, but Promethee have achieved just that with a release which should find success throughout Europe and beyond, it may just alter your preconceptions of the Swiss at the same time. The hills are alive with the sound of furious metalcore!
