AOR Heaven
Jesse Damon is the guitarist/frontman with Silent Rage and this is his fifth solo album. He has renowned producer and melodic rocker Paul Sabu in the producer’s chair (Sabu also handles bass on the album) and Eden’s Curse drummer Pete Newdeck and keyboards player to the stars Eric Ragno also appear on the album.
The album sounds like a Paul Sabu one, albeit with Jess Damon on vocals instead as those trademark Sabu keys and big, harmony vocal filled choruses are all over this album. ‘I Need You Forever’ with its immense chorus and the hard rocking ‘Black Widow’ (which sounds like Ozzy’s ‘Shot In The Dark’ at times) are like Paul Sabu at his best. Jess Damon has a nice rough edge to his voice and Foreigner are another obvious comparison to many of the songs on here like ‘Save Me’ or ‘Hold On’. It does stumble occasionally as ‘Let It Rock’ is a bit too clichéd. Couple of good ballads as you’d expect, with ‘Angel In The Starlight’ the stand out aided by rich keys in the background and a strong vocal performance from Jesse Damon.
If you like melodic hard rock, Silent Rage and most of the albums Paul Sabu has had a hand in you will love this album. One to crank up and enjoy!
