Recorded back in 1990 this is not quite the classic Big Country line-up as it features Pat Ahern on drums. Also it is just the concert, no extras or song selection, although with only nine songs perhaps one wasn’t needed! I am pretty sure these Town & Country Club (now the Forum) gigs aired late on ITV back in the day. The picture and sound quality are good as you’d expect from a TV recording and provides a timely reminder of how good the band was.
It’s a hit filled setlist and the crowd don’t stop bouncing around all through the gig, bar for the quieter moment provided by ‘Broken Heart (Thirteen Valleys)’. ‘Fields Of Fire’ with its extended soloing shows what a sad loss the untimely death of Stuart Adamson was. The nine song set is rounded off by the Neil Young cover, ‘Rockin’ In The Free World’.
A budget release that will doubtless appeal to the casual fan but not a lot to attract sales sadly from the long term fans as it really is a no frills live DVD.
