Album review – GEORGE THOROGOOD AND THE DESTROYERS – Live At Rockpalast – Dortmund 1980

MIG Music [release date – 24.02.17]

George Thorogood live is akin to a tornado hitting your town, fast, furious and guaranteed to lay waste to all before him. This package was recorded for posterity back when he and The Destroyers touched down in Dortmund.

The gig is a bit of a participation sport with George encouraging everyone to get up and dance from the start. The raw, dirty blues rock soundtrack is perfect and whilst Mr Thorogood may not have had the best of voices on this particular night, the band give it their all across the 15 tracks on offer.

The set list contains all the classics you would expect, ‘House Rent Blues/ One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer’, ‘Madison Blues’ and ‘Who Do You Love’ are all included along with many others each delivered in George’s inimitable style.

This DVD and two CD package gives great value for money with the set clocking in at 88 minutes so there is plenty here to entertain. This is one of a range of Rockpalast CD and DVD packages from MIG Music which is well worth investigating as there are some gems emerging and with the wealth of recordings they have there should be something to suit all tastes.
