The Bad Flowers are a no nonsense three-piece rock band hailing from Cannock – hometown of the legendary Glenn Hughes. The band’s line-up is Tom Leighton (Guitar/Vocals), Dale Tonks (Bass/Vocals) and Karl Selickis (Drums) and to date they released a couple of EPs’, plus supported the likes of Toseland and Dan Baird.
On ‘Thunder Child’ Tom Leighton’s vocals recall the Cult’s Ian Astbury and the tune mixes heavy riffing, with a sizzling solo midway through. The drumming is something else, massive in sound and power – perfect for the band’s musical style.
‘Lion’s Blood’ is the other song on here, featuring more heavy rhythm and another decent guitar solo.
Plenty of new bands out there playing catchy hard rock/blues rock and the Bad Flowers could just have that certain something to set them ahead of the pack. Based on these two songs their debut album, ‘Starting Gun’ due early next year will be one to listen out for. ****
