Judas Priest are back with ‘Lightning Strikes’ off their upcoming album ‘Firepower’ which is due on 9 March via Sony Music. It is classic Priest with Rob Halford giving a few trademark metal screams and guitarist Richie Faulkner now on to his second album with the band since joining in 2011.
Toto have a new greatest hits collection ‘Forty Trips Around The Sun’ due on 9 February. The 17 song collection features three previously unreleased recordings ‘Spanish Sea’, ‘Alone’ and ‘Struck By Lightning’. ‘Spanish Sea’ has just been released as an audio only track and sound wise there is a distinct ‘Africa’ backbeat to it and some lovely Beach Boys like harmonies on the chorus. The band have a world tour to back this album’s release.
The Narrow Plains release a new single ‘I Should’ve Known’ on 2 February via Spectra Music Group. Jaunty tune driven by a fast acoustic riff and catchy chorus.
Fahran released their new song ‘State Of Mind’ ahead of a new album due this summer. It is a hard hitting song, both musically and lyrically as Josh Fahran explains -
“The brand new single State of Mind is from the forthcoming album VAPOURS that will land Summer 2018. As a band, we have definitely stepped it up and developed a heavier sound to our music. State of Mind is like a bridge between our previous album Chasing Hours and what we are going to release in our next album. The song is told from two perspectives. The first is from the place of someone who’s depressed, low, and anxious. Then it switches to the outside perspective of wanting to help that person because you understand what they’ve been through from your own experience.”
Fiction Sixx have released a new video for ‘Where We Belong’, which comes from their debut album that was released by MelodicRock Records last year.
Kayak release ‘La Peregrina’ off their new album ‘Seventeen’ which is out on 12 January on Inside Out Music. Mixing prog, pomp, musicals and a little Queen, the album is well worth a listen.
The Darker My Horizon (TDMH) release a new five song EP ‘Phoenix’ on January 26. The EP features four Sacred Heart songs re-recorded by the new lineip of TDMH plus a cover of ‘Knocking On Heaven’s Door’, which is more in the Guns ‘N’ Roses style than the Bob Dylan original…
‘Listen’ is the title track and first single from Alex James Brierley’s debut EP released on 23 February. Produced and mixed by Steve Levine (Culture Club, The Beach Boys) and mastered at the world famous Abbey Road Studios.
Simon Lewis has released his debut singe ‘All I Am’. The song deals with self-confidence and encourages everyone to stand up for themselves.
