EP review: MEMORY OF A MELODY – Burn Alive

Memory of a Melody hail from San Antonio, Texas and prior to this EP have released three albums – 2011’s ‘Things That Make You Scream’, 2012’s ‘Mouthful of Razors’, and 2013’s ‘Phantom’s and Shadows’. After that the band had a break until they found their musical mojo again and recorded this three song EP last year.

The one band Memory of a Melody remind me most of are Nickelback, mainly in the vocals, especially on ‘Rise Up’, a song the aforementioned Nickelback would have loved to have penned I am sure.

On ‘Mary Go Round’ in amongst the metal riffs, their time changes remind the listener of System Of A Down. Its nu metal Jim but not as we know it…

‘Burn Alive’ has recently been released as a single and again the metal riffs and melody leave a lasting impression on the listener.

Impressive stuff from Memory Of A Melody. Melodic, yet subtly aggressive. Hopefully now they are back in the saddle again they will be keen to record more music. ****
