Now there’s a bit of a backstory here… whilst both bands will be judged as single entities, these guys have in fact worked together before as the mighty King Voodoo whilst they disbanded and have gone their separate ways musically. These guys still have so much love for one another and have collaborated together in the sense that Jamie from Big Tall Shadows produced the track ‘Rip and Tear’ for Roxy and the Lockhearts.
These guys will always have my support as they have grown to be friends as well as people I have huge respect for in the music scene.

First up is ‘Rip and Tear’ the latest offering from Roxy and the Lockhearts.
Having previously met Josh from Roxy and the Lockhearts you can see immediately his aesthetic is 80s rockstar! And the music is absolutely no exception. Grabbing your attention immediately with a siren, you know the track is going to literally ‘Rip and Tear’ with riffs aplenty and one hell of a catchy chorus, this is one stellar track that is going to be a showstopper at live gigs. It’s an 80s rock lovers dream with big nods to Motley Crue and Def Leppard.
It’s tongue in cheek, in your face and I wouldn’t expect anything less. The 80s rockstar vocal is on brand along with the musical composition, it’s absolutely off the scale with big riffs , licks added with the bass and drum work which is in keeping with the fast paced adrenaline laced track. I’m so proud of these guys and I know this track has been crafted with so much love and passion.
I truly hope rock fans love it as much as I do. Is this is the first track I cannot wait to see what’s next!
Moving on to Big Tall Shadows and their anthemic first offering ‘Waiting For You’, frontman Jamie has once again been mastering his singing and songwriting craft with this one. It’s giving a very big nod to Biffy Clyro and I’m here for it! Its lyrics and delivery are passionate and strong, the band backing up with precision!
This is melodic rock at its finest. There’s some great riffs and licks and it’s rock that’s not too heavy but still packing a ferocious punch.
The lyrical theme being of struggling with mental health and finding a way through, I feel the lyrics will resonate with many on a personal level (myself included) and I think it’s a brave and beautiful thing to take personal experience and turn it into song.
I have to say, both of these tracks are absolutely testament to the talent of both of these bands and I am truly proud to see the growth and each individuals talents flourish.
If these are the debut singles, I cannot wait to see what’s next!
