News: Popular Poll results announced Sunday 18 December – top rock album, live and breakthough act 2016

The Darkness - STEELHOUSE FESTIVAL - Ebbw Vale, South Wales, 24 July 2016

The results of Get Ready to ROCK!’s popular poll for ‘Best of 2016′ will be announced on Sunday 18 December at 22:00 GMT in a special show on the website’s dedicated radio station.

At the end of November the website published its annual list of reviewer selections for Top Album, Top Live Act and Breakthrough Act.

Melodic hard rockers Vega were placed Top Album, whilst Bad Company scooped the Live Act award.  The breakthrough act was named as blues rockers Red Butler.

As Reviews Editor Jason RItchie commented “The popular poll is a bit of fun before Christmas, but also reflects the wide ranging coverage at Get Ready to ROCK! in terms of reviews and radio.”

With less than 24 hours before the popular poll closes in the Top Album category Marillion and Blackberry Smoke are running neck and neck whilst in the Top Live Act category Black Stone Cherry and Thunder are strong contenders.

Breakthrough acts Stone Broken and Red Spektor have also received strong support.  The former band will be special guests of Glenn Hughes on tour in early 2017.

Readers and listeners can vote up to 23:59 GMT on 16 December 2016.

Says managing editor David Randall “This has been one of our most successful promotions with over 25,000 page views to date.  Our Best of 2016 always includes a healthy variety of choices and the earMUSIC label have kindly supplied a selection of 2016 albums for an optional Prize Draw.”

And Jason Ritchie adds: “If nothing else the reviewers list of albums and artists may inform reader and listener Christmas lists, either for gift ideas or to purchase and supplement their collection.”

Throughout December Get Ready to ROCK! Radio is featuring Best of selections throughout its playlists.
