Album review: SCHEFF TOLLE ADRIAENS – Let’s Stop The World

SCHEFF TOLLE ADRIAENS - Let's Stop The World

Pride & Joy Music [Release date 26.06.26]

The trio of Darin Scheff, Christian Tolle and Morris Adriaens each have plenty of musical experience. Darin Scheff  is the brother of former Chicago vocalist Jason (who guests on a couple of songs on the album); Christian Tolle as released a couple of enjoyable melodic rock albums under the CTP handle and they featured many top notch musical guests; and Morris Adriaens has appeared on albums from the likes of AOR and Frozen Rain.

Given the three musicians love of Chicago it comes as no surprise that the mellower numbers like ‘How Do I Get Over You’, have a real latter day Chicago feel in their sound and harmonies. However, it is when Messrs. Scheff, Tolle and Adriens decide to rock out that the album kicks into gear. ‘Headstone On The Highway’ being a prime example, although they appeared to have lifted a bit of the riff from a Bryan Adams hit! The Bryan Adams vibes continues on ‘Walk Through The Fire’. Loving the gravelly vocals and guitars mix on this one.

‘What Love’s Done To Us’ is another radio friendly rocker, complete with enjoyable Def Leppard approved backing vocals. It much more a melodic hard rock album than Westcoast AOR which the listener may have been expecting given the band’s line-up. Heck, ‘Let’s Rise’ is a perfect uplifting anthem that the likes of Petra would love.

Scheff, Tolle and Adriaens have made a classy melodic rock album and one that lives up to the expectations of the musicians involved. Hopefully another album will follow as this trio are musically a great fit. ***1/2
