Albums of the Month
(July – September 2026)
A quarterly feature highlighting album releases rated highly by the GRTR! review team and worthy of your investigation. We try and pick out a cross-section of albums that reflect the range of genres reviewed at the website. The star rating will be at least ****
We will probably have to wait until 2027 to hear more pieces played live as on the current tour the band are playing their third album in its entirety. But be thankful, Europe are back and firing on all five cylinders. ****
Review by David Randall
Maiah Wynne has produced a remarkably atmospheric and melodic album that stands up as one of the albums of the year. The more you listen to it the more you love it. ****
Review by Jason Ritchie
The complete album is an unashamed nod to melodic rock convention. None of this “embracing change” nonsense for Shakra. They stay close to their tried and trusted template, squeezing out carefully crafted melodies, making them sound fresh and new, full of measured riffs and sturdy hooks. *****
Review by Brian McGowan
Robin Trower’s ‘Shine’ is not a perfect album, but given the levels of creativity of this indefatigable octogenarian with a timeless tone, it’s one of the best of the year. ****½
Review by Pete Feenstra
Despite the number of guest musicians involved it has a cohesive feel, thanks to Billy Morrison’s vocals and guitar riffs. Enjoyable listening and crank it up! ****

Love them or hate them their influence over the music business is unequalled and unrivalled, and I for one am really pleased and amazed that they have produced this album of goodies. ***** (******* Andy’s rating scale!)
