Album review: VINDICTIV – Cage Of Infinity

Escape Music www.escape-music.com

Vindictiv return after a few years gap with a new album, line-up and most noticeably sound. Previously I have not been overly keen on the band’s previous two albums, which despite featuring Goran Edman on vocals came across as standard progressive metal.

However, on this new album Goran Edman has gone (and can be heard in fellow Escape band Covered Call’s new album) to be replaced by Marco Sandron, briefly a member of Eden’s Curse last year. Mainman Stefan Lindholm still drives the music along and they have a new drummer in Henrik Hedman.

This album is a highly enjoyable slab of classic power metal, not a million miles away from the latter day output of the mighty Judas Priest. ‘Down In A Black Hole’ fairly pummels the listener into submission, whereas ‘Human Emergency’ adds in the keys of Pontus Larsson and the neo-classical guitar playing of Stefan Lindholm.

The band have really made a big change sound wise going down the power metal path and have chosen wisely in vocalist Marco Sandron who suits the music to a tee. Easily the band’s best album to date for me. ****
