Album review: PHIL VINCENT – No Respect

PHIL VINCENT – No Respect

Bandcamp [Release date 22.07.22]

As he aptly describes himself on his Bandcamp page, “Phil Vincent is truly a one man band. His proficiency with multiple instruments makes it possible for him to write, arrange, perform, produce and mix all of his own music.”

He truly is a force of musical nature juggling bands like D’Ercole and Legion, along with his regular solo releases, of which ‘No Respect’ is the latest. He is joined by drummer Max Piccolo and long-time musical companion Vince O’Regan on lead guitars.

‘Nobody Cares’ is what we have come to expect from Phil Vincent, namely hard hitting melodic hard rock. However, second song ‘War Arrow’ sees him go full on metal, from the searing guitar solo through to the frantic drumming of Max Piccolo. Very tasty indeed!

‘Anywhere At All’ has enough cowbell to satisfy even BOC’s Eric Bloom, as the song is a proper toe tapping melodic rocker. ‘Road To Nowhere’ and ‘When Will It End?’ bring the tempo down, with ‘Road To Nowhere’ a keys drenched melodic rock delight. The backing vocals and harmonies on this song are top draw too.

Phil Vincent, despite his prolific musical output, doesn’t do bad albums and this is amongst his best. Crank it up, set up your air guitar and enjoy! ****
