Rock Company [Release date 24.06.26]
Album number fourteen from Tragik! Formed around Phil Vincent, a musician who defines the word prolific, he is joined by regular Tragik members drummer Dirk Phillips and bassist Damian D’Ercole, with guitar solos once again played by Vince O’Regan.
Opening the album with the ultra-heavy ‘Bushwacked’, the listener is taken by surprise, although the next track, ‘Nothin’ Left But Time’, treads the more familiar melodic hard rock path Tragik favour. Vince O’Regan certainly lets fly on the guitar on this one, and the keys also add a little extra sparkle to this song.
‘Threw It All Away’ mixes a nifty guitar and keys riff to good effect and again Vince O’Regan adds a few guitar solos to add to the song’s appeal.
Not overly taken by the album’s epic track, ‘Ego Trip’ (although the brooding intro works well) or indeed the cover of Three Dog Night’s ‘Joy to the World’. The former seems to lack a focal point and the cover is heavier than the original, but not overly memorable. However, classy melodic rocker ‘After All’ and ‘In the Pantomime’, a midtempo number with a suitable immense chorus.
Tragik keep their high musical standards going on ‘Propaganda Elite’ and not many bands can say that after fourteen albums (or indeed get to record fourteen albums!). ***1/2
